Happy Hammies – Your Guide to Flexible Hamstrings

Do you feel like your hamstrings (the muscles down the back of the leg) are too tight or too short, that they’re stopping you from sitting on the ground, touching your toes or doing your normal activities?
Perhaps you’re wondering why even though you stretch and stretch them, they just don’t seem to get any better.
This workshop will look at why your hamstrings refuse to let go, what sort of hamstrung person you are, whether you’re a gripper, a braker or a contractor and what you can actually do to create some length in your hamstrings.
The benefits of hamstrings lengthen are many and include:
  • A reduced risk of serious injury.
  • A decreased danger of strain on your lower back and sacro-iliac joints.
  • Improved knee biomechanics and potentially less knee pain.
  • Improved hip mobility.
  • Improvements in whole body health, simply by creating better alignment in the body.
During the workshop we will:
  • Test to see what type of tight hamstrings you have.
  • Address the different types.
  • Teach you what really works for lengthening the hamstrings – and that isn’t stretching!
A manual of all the techniques will be provided.
*Please note that if your hamstring tension is one sided this may indicate involvement of the sciatic nerve, if your hamstrings are painful or have been injured recently, you experience tingling, burning or numbness in your hamstrings or further down the leg and into the foot.  These are issues that need to be checked by a medical professional.
